Fresh Starts

Wow. This is what I spotted in my yard today. And not just this one. They are everywhere! I don't even know what these will be. I planted 100 yellow and midnight purple tulip bulbs in the Fall around the tree trunks, several beautiful purple Allium 'Gladiator' bulbs (that will be gigantic!!!) higher up in the bed and there are bright yellow calla lilies in the middle area. The callas are also starting to sprout. Hooray! They were new last year and I am so excited for them to get a full season to strengthen in the garden this year. I also planted some 'other' bulbs. These are a part of the 'other' bulbs. I'm sad that I don't remember what they are. I have it in my garden journal, but I'd like to just know. Someday I will know my garden that well. When these old friends come up and fade away a few more times, then I'll know them well. Although I welcome that friendship with giddy anticipation, I'm happy to let it nurture slowly and deliberately.

Finding this awesome surprise is also when I realized that I need to wrap up my indoor projects for the season. I have about a dozen projects going inside like this pair of vintage chairs that I have started reupholstery on. As soon as that sun starts to peek out around those clouds there is no way you'll find me inside! hehe.

For a little recap, I've finally put up a few pictures of some of my handmade Christmas gifts. These are the oven mitt sets that I made for some of my family and friends. I love the way the colors came together in the bindings.

For Justin's coworkers we put together these little dips. I created the boxes and J and I mixed up the dips with fresh herbs and spices.

For the girls I made them each initial tees. Cannon's is made from all of these super bright mix of vintage and new buttons. She loves the little pocket. Mia's is made of satin ribbon flowers and laces. They each have matching embellished jeans.

Tomorrow morning is officially back to work. I have a million and one catalogs to mail out. Is yours one of them? Automatically sign up for the catalog by creating a user account!
