This holiday season I have been more aware of my own personal purchasing habits. I had the painful experience of being in the "handmade" section of a local holiday bazaar only to be stuck across from a dollar discounter of imported goods that literally smelled like warehouse. Oh, the waste! Wasted energy, money, landfill space, soul. I took the Buy Handmade Pledge on buyhandmade.org and am making most of my gifts. I have bought a few things to add to them - all of which are handmade by local crafters. I won't ever judge anyone on their own purchasing habits, but I do hope to inspire others to be aware of their purchasing - who it supports and what it says about our commitment to our children's futures. Support your local crafters, give a better gift AND build a better future for our children. Sounds pretty good to me.
Love and joy, Violet!

Gasp!! Is right! My new or actually old slogan (J made it up a while ago and now it is being printed on my new (whahoo!) hang-tags) ... is clothing made for children not by children in the good ole USA!
