It's just after 9pm on Friday night and I'm working late in the studio. I just packed up a box for a store order and thought how proud I was of the pieces going into the box. No, I didn't sew every one of them. (Quite thankfully!) But I did just sew all 12 of the Pixie Pockets and stitch them onto the tanks one by one. Then I checked each piece of the order, tagged them, folded them, wrapped them in tissue and lovingly placed them into the tissue lined box. Every little detail that goes into each order has a little piece of me wrapped up with it. This is what I do and that is what I love.

Only six more orders to fulfill tonight. Then I will be able to sleep restfully without worrying about the business for the night. It has been a long time since I've been able to go a whole weekend without worrying about what I should be doing here in the studio. This weekend I will try.

Hi Violet,
ReplyDeleteI am a new mom and had my beautiful baby girl 6 months ago. Having a child has inspired me in so many way and wanting to do something creative and beautiful like designing comfortable onesies and tees that are unique and original is just one of my ideas. I found your website inspiring and was wondering if you have any advice for someone like me. I dont know the first thing about sewing but want to learn asap! Thank you for any advice on starting a business as unique as yours. Keep up the great work!
ps- I was just in Laguna Beach a few weeks ago and picked up a paisley cap for her, we both love it! Thank you!
